What is Cash for College?
Cash for College is a regional effort that helps Inland Empire students and families complete financial aid applications like the FAFSA and California Dream Act Application (CADAA). We offer free workshops, one-on-one support, and helpful resources to guide you through the process.
Who can attend a Cash for College workshop?
Workshops are open to all, and you don’t need to attend a specific school to participate. Counselors, parents, and community memberd are also welcome.
What do I need to bring to a workshop?
Bring your Social Security number (if you have one), your parent/guardians tax information, and any income or benefits info. For a full list of what to bring, visit our workshop page.
What’s the difference between FAFSA and CADAA?
The FAFSA is for U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens. The CADAA is for undocumented students who meet AB 540 criteria. Both forms help you qualify for financial aid like grants and scholarships.
Is financial aid really worth applying for?
Yes. Many students qualify for grants they don’t have to pay back. Even if you think you won’t qualify, applying can open doors to scholarships, work-study, and more.

How can schools or community organizations host a Cash for College workshop?
Schools, nonprofits, and community groups in the Inland Empire can partner with GIA to host an in-person or virtual Cash for College workshop. We provide materials, training, and staffing support. To get started, visit our workshop section under the resources page.
What resources are available for counselors helping students with financial aid?
Counselors can access a toolkit with training materials, checklists, event flyers, and up-to-date FAFSA/CADAA guidance. GIA also offers “train-the-trainer” sessions and ongoing support to help counselors lead successful workshops. Visit iecashforcollege.org/resources to explore what’s available.
