Step 1: Figure out which application is right for you<\/strong><\/strong><\/h5>\n
<\/strong><\/h5>\n

You only need to apply with ONE depending on certain qualifications: The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act Application (CADAA).<\/p>\n

Apply with CADAA if you:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Are Undocumented (with or without DACA)<\/li>\n
  • Have a U-Visa<\/li>\n
  • Have Temporary Protected Status<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Apply with FAFSA if you:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Are a U.S. Citizen<\/li>\n
    • Are a Permanent Resident (Green Card)<\/li>\n
    • Are an eligible non-citizen<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      Step 2: Gather the required information & documents<\/strong><\/h5>\n

      If you’re a student:<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      • Student FSA ID\/Login Info (for FAFSA only)<\/li>\n
      • Social Security Number (if applicable)<\/li>\n
      • Alien Registration Number (if applicable)<\/li>\n
      • 2022 Federal Income Tax Return (if applicable)<\/li>\n
      • List of schools you\u2019re interested in attending<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        If you\u2019re the parent\/contributor:<\/strong><\/p>\n

          \n
        • Contributor FSA\/ID Login Info (for FAFSA only)<\/li>\n
        • 2022 Federal Income Tax Return<\/li>\n
        • Amount in checking & savings accounts<\/li>\n
        • Untaxed income such as child support received<\/li>\n
        • Assets like businesses, investments, real estate, etc. (Not including retirement or primary residence).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          Step 3: Create your FSA-ID
          <\/strong><\/h5>\n

          Whether you\u2019re a student, parent, or borrower, you\u2019ll need to create your own account (FSA-ID) to apply for, receive, and manage your federal student aid.
          <\/strong><\/p>\n

          • You must have an account to do the following:<\/li>\n
          • Fill out the FAFSA or CADAA form online (See #1 above to choose your form)<\/li>\n
          • Complete other online forms (such as the Master Promissory Note) if required<\/li>\n
          • Review the federal student aid you\u2019ve received<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
            Step 4: Apply for financial aid… Don\u2019t delay!<\/strong><\/h5>\n

            The FAFSA application is now OPEN for 2024-2025. The submission deadline is April 2, 2024.<\/p>\n
